Our focus is quality of movement and teaching students how to apply foundational principles to client practice and class development. While learning the curriculum, each student is encouraged to find their own unique teaching voice.
The course builds a strong foundation for safe, effective training in any setting. You’ll learn practical tools to help clients recover from injury, improve fitness, and enhance performance. Covering Whole Body Movement, Trunk Integration, Lower Body Training, Upper Body Training, and Mobility & Restoration, it prepares instructors to understand movement patterns, problem‑solve confidently, and learn new techniques with ease. Prerequisites: None. Ideal for anyone with no anatomy training.
This is an In-person learning using a skeleton model to learn the anatomy in 3D using clay. Prior arrangement need to be made for this course to take place at the studio as the Course Educator is based in the South of England.
Our Balanced Body Pilates Bridge programme is designed for students who have begun training with another organisation and want to transfer to Balanced Body, or who have completed Pilates training elsewhere and wish to become Balanced Body certified. Each student’s previous education is individually reviewed, and if accepted, a tailored study plan is recommended. Bridge options are available for Mat, Reformer, Mat & Reformer, and Comprehensive training
This course introduces the history and principles of Pilates, along with beginning and intermediate exercises. Each exercise includes guidance on modifications, challenges, purpose, and precautions for injuries and special populations. You’ll also learn how to design and teach group classes, plus guidelines for seniors and pre/post‑natal clients.

• 6 months’ experience teaching movement and anatomy (recommended)
Mat 2 teaches the remaining intermediate and advanced level Mat exercises for a complete understanding of the Pilates Mat program. Lectures include progressive skill development to achieve the advanced exercises, programming for intermediate and advanced classes and creating successful Mat classes.

Enhanced Pilates Mat completes Mat training by adding rings, rollers, bands and balls to traditional exercises. It also introduces functional upper and lower body work, expanding Mat practice beyond the core to build whole‑body strength and flexibility. The Balanced Body Programming System is included to make class design easy, effective and fun. Adding props makes classes more dynamic, creative and accessible and clients love the variety.

• Mat 1 and 2, or successful completion
This course introduces the ‘Universal’ Reformer, the centrepiece of the Pilates studio and an essential training tool. Reformer 1 teaches safe use of the equipment and key beginning and intermediate exercises. It also covers common modifications and variations, along with the reasoning behind each movement, helping you build strong critical‑thinking skills from the start of your training.

Reformer 2 expands the potential of the Reformer with intermediate and advanced exercises and includes associated safety protocols and modifications. Reformer 2 also explores along with programs designed for specific populations including pre and post–natal clients, clients with osteoporosis, and clients with lower back issues. Class design, dynamic assessment and correcting common dysfunctional movement patterns are also included.

Reformer 3 is the pinnacle of the Reformer work and includes advanced and super advanced exercises. Challenge clients to achieve their best with progressive sequences designed to teach students advanced movement skills. In addition, our principle based programming will guide you in the creation of safe and successful multi-level classes.

Yes, only if you are looking to gain full certification from Balanced Body then you will need to complete all 3 modules of either Mat or Reformer, plus the Movement Principles course. However, if you are only looking to increase your knowledge and learning about Reformer or Mat Pilates and you don’t plan to teach as a Qualified instructor, then you can stop after any module.
You do not need any previous Pilates experience to start the course, but it is highly recommended that you gain some insight by attending any Pilates sessions that you can. If you have no previous training in Pilates or no medical background, then it is essential that you complete an Anatomy training course (provided online with BB) or can show evidence of training with another provider (minimum hours requirement).
